Dolph Ziggler career

Ziggler signed a developmental deal with WWE in 2004 and was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he competed under his real name, following a successful career in amateur wrestling during which he set numerous school records for Kent State University.

Shortly after, in 2005, he was elevated to WWE’s Raw brand, where he acted as Kerwin White’s sidekick caddy.

Shortly after, he was sent back to OVW, where he adopted the moniker Nicky and joined the Spirit Squad, a cheerleading-themed team that made its RAW debut in January 2006 and won the World Tag Team Championship once before being sent back to OVW in November of that same year.

Ziggler was given a contract with Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in September 2007. There, he teamed up with Brad Allen and then Gavin Spears to win the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship twice.

In September 2008, Ziggler made a comeback to the main roster and was given the new name Dolph Ziggler. He’s held the World Heavyweight Championship twice, the NXT Championship once, the Intercontinental Championship six times, the United States Championship twice, the Raw Tag Team Championship twice, and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship once since that time.

Ziggler has held 15 belts in the WWE overall. He also won the 2012 Money in the Bank match, was the lone survivor of two Survivor Series elimination bouts, and has headlined numerous WWE pay-per-view events. On September 21, 2023, Nemeth left WWE, capping a career spanning 19 years.

Johnny Carson, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Jan Hooks, Jon Lovitz, Brian Regan, Adam Sandler, and George Wallace were among the comedians Ziggler grew up enjoying.

He made the decision to begin his comedy career around the year 2010. In 2013, he gave his debut stand-up comedy performance in a small Los Angeles venue. Soon after, he started receiving offers to appear at other comedy clubs close to WWE events.

He had been studying humor for almost a decade at this time in order to pursue a career in comedy. In addition, he started hosting a regular improv comedy show called Flying Chuck with his brother Ryan Nemeth and fellow professional wrestler John Morrison.

A few years later, he began appearing as his longtime friend Sarah Tiana’s opening act. He competed against Tiana on Comedy Central’s Roast Battle III in July 2018.

Ziggler began working as a stand-up comedian seriously in 2018 while still competing for WWE. Due to the large number of wrestling fans in the area, he exploited the big WWE events to piggyback on his first significant concerts, which led to him headlining shows near the arenas for the 2018 SummerSlam and Survivor Series pay-per-views.

He set out on his first headline tour from the end of January to the end of March after the 2019 Royal Rumble match. He stopped watching WWE television to concentrate on the tour. Later, he announced two gigs in Texas for late May as part of his ongoing tour.
